Exodus 20:1,2 And God spoke all these words: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

Exodus 20:13 You shall not murder.  In Matthew 5: 21, 22 Jesus said, "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment.

Aristotle said, “Anyone can be angry- that is easy. But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose and in the right way – that is not easy.” Do you think that there is anyone who can be angry like this? Do you think you could reach this high standard?

“The word ‘anger’ appears 455 times in the Bible and in 375 cases it refers to God. God gets angry… His anger is righteous because he is perfect and all-knowing and is always justified, both with the reason why he is angry and the way he expresses it.” (p112 J John)

Ephesians 4:25-27 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. "In your anger do not sin" (Psalm 4:3-5). Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.

Anger then becomes the devil’s snare to us- unless we deal with anger it opens the gate to other sin- unforgiveness, bitterness, malice, d&a_profile.jpgdeceit…

Read chapter 6 of “TEN: Living the Ten Commandments in the 21st Century” by J John available in our bookshop, to prepare for your connect group this week.

Discuss how to work toward achieving the kind of anger that Aristotle talks about- a godly, righteous anger that does not lead to sin.
